Mary Quass presents Hall of Fame Award to Betty Baudler
The Iowa Broadcasters Association has inducted Betty Baudler into the Iowa
Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame, in honor of her many years of service and
contributions to the broadcast industry.
The Iowa Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame award recognizes Iowans who have
made a significant contribution to their community, the state, and the broadcast
industry.
A native Iowan and graduate of the American Institute of Business in Des Moines,
Baudler began her broadcast career as a bookkeeper at KASI/KCCQ radio in Ames,
becoming General Manager in 1981. She purchased the stations from Dale Cowle in
1985, becoming the first woman in Iowa to own a radio station. Last year she sold
KASI/KCCQ to Clear Channel Communications of San Antonio, Texas. She served the
stations as President and General Manager until her retirement in April 2001.
Baudler served as President of the Ames Chamber of Commerce and was named Ames
Chamber Woman of the Year in 1988, recognizing exceptional community leadership.
Involved in the Ames community, Baudler holds office and serves on numerous boards
and committees including the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau, serving as
President in 1996, Ames Rotary Club, Junior Achievement, ISU Research Park Board,
Ames Soroptimist Club, First National Bank Board, Hospice House Endowment Board
and Mary Greeley Hospital Foundation. She has served the broadcast industry as
a Radio Committee Member of the National Association of Broadcasters, President
of the Iowa Broadcasters Association, and Member of the Quarton-McElroy/IBA
Endowment Fund Advisory Board.
