McLane Inducted Into Hall of Fame
Betty Baudler presents Hall of Fame Award to Peter McLane
Peter McLane, Vice President and General Manager of KGGO/KDMI/KHKI in Des Moines was
inducted into the Iowa Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame at the IBA Annual Awards Banquet, June
26 at the University Park Holiday Inn in West Des Moines.
The Iowa Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame recognizes Iowans who have made a significant
contribution to their community, the state, and the broadcast industry.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska, McLane began his broadcast career in 1956 at the campus
radio station. In 1959 he took the name of “Peter Rabbit”, and went on the air as a disc jockey for
KWMT radio in Fort Dodge. In 1963 he began working for KIOA radio in Des Moines, as “The Disc
Jockey in the Window,” later serving the station as Operations Director. He was Vice President of
Programming for Stoner Broadcasting in Des Moines from 1980-1989 overseeing the on-air
programming for KGGO in Des Moines and KHAK and Cedar Rapids as well as stations in New York,
Ohio and Louisiana. In 1989 he was named Vice President and General Manager of KGGO radio and
now continues to serve in that capacity for KGGO, KDMI and KHKI.
McLane is a graduate of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) management course and is a
Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) certified radio marketing consultant.
