Eliot Keller Named 2001 Broadcaster of the Year

The Iowa Broadcasters Association has named Eliot Keller, President and General
Manager of KZIA-FM/Cedar Rapids as recipient of its Broadcaster of the Year
award for 2001.
Keller was nominated for his “dedication to the industry” and is a long time
Iowa broadcaster celebrating 34 years in the business.
Keller began his broadcasting career in 1967 as an announcer at KCII in
Washington, Iowa. Between 1968-1970 he served as a news reporter,
correspondent and photographer for a number of Iowa radio and television
stations including, WSUI, Iowa City; WHO, Des Moines; and WOC, WHBF and KWQC-TV
in Davenport. In 1971 he started KRNA, INC., in Iowa City where he served as Owner,
President and General Manager of KRNA Radio. In 1994 he acquired KQCR-FM in
Cedar Rapids, serving as President and General Manager of both KQCR-FM and KRNA
until selling KRNA in 1998. He continued to serve as President and General
Manager of KQCR, changing call letters to KXMX and eventually to KZIA, where
today he continues as Owner, President and General Manager.
Keller has served as a member of the Local Government Affairs Task Force and
Transportation Committee of the Iowa City Chamber of Commerce, and a board
member of the Iowa Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He has been
an active member of the Iowa Broadcasters Association since 1971.
The Iowa Broadcaster of the Year award recognizes Iowa radio and television
managers, who have provided exceptional leadership to their
station, and service to their community.
